Rules of Dating

When it comes to dating ladies and gentlemen there are rules to be followed. There are things men should not do and there are things women should not dare so what are some of these things.

Dumb First Date Move #1 – Expect her to pay

The biggest rule with money and dating is to never let money cause awkwardness. Don’t look at money as a tool in your arsenal. Think of it as a bomb you don’t want to go off.

For example, most women will expect you to pay for at least most of the first date. In an age of equal-pay laws, you can be political about this, but what’s the point? Plenty of things in our world are illogical, and you’re not going to get much sympathy talking about how men get a rough deal in society. Assume you’re paying.

Dumb First Date Move #2 – Take her somewhere super expensive

This is a more subtle flaw than expecting her to pay, but it can be just as devastating.

A lot of women will be turned off by an overly-expensive first date. They will be anxious that you will “expect something” at the end of the night for what you spent. Or they will wonder if you have so little going for you that you essentially have to try to buy affection.

Ladies there is this habit of tagging your friend along on a date. That is not being fair to the man. The reason he asked you out is to be with you and only you. Also how you dress is how you will be addressed.

Bring your friend along. That’s not called a date. That’s called hanging out. Whatever you say, it’s going to be awkward. And if it’s a guy you brought, I won’t even say ciao when I leave a minute later.

Look like you can’t be bothered to take care of her appearance. How you naturally look is one thing. What effort you did to dress up for the date is another. It’s the first thing men notice, if nothing else. It is a first date, make it look like one.

Apart from the things you should not do, there are things you should do. Smile, mind how your body responds and also be a good listener.

Smile. When we arrive, smile. Maybe you are a tough guy. Maybe you are nervous. Maybe you are paralyzed. Either way, smile. Women are strange, exotic, intuitive creatures, and we respond well to positive reinforcement. Do not glower.

Mind Your Body Language. If your legs are crossed and your hand is over your mouth, we will unconsciously think you are hiding something. If you are sprawled out all over with your legs spread wide and your hands behind your head, we will think you are a slob or generally loose. Sit up straight, lean in closer, and keep your hands where we can see them.

Ask Questions. This seems obvious, but it’s surprising how many men don’t do this. You know what women like? Attention. Also, kittens, flowers, and cupcakes. Nothing else. If you seem curious about the woman sitting across from you, she will like it. For sure.
